COFO founder · Tenerife & La Gomera, Spain
Maria Mayordomo Iglesias
I’m Maria, founder of Cactus Coliving in the Canary Islands. I’m involved in everything from the day-to-day running of our colivings to developing the community, creating partnerships and growing Cactus across the islands. What I care about most is creating places where remote workers can genuinely connect, feel at home and experience the local culture beyond the typical tourist experience.
Why I chose COFO
I started COFO together with Claire fro Pomar Coliving and Marco from Beet coliving because we felt there was a real need for coliving founders to connect, collaborate and support each other. We wanted to create a space where operators could share experiences, learn from one another, raise standards and work together to protect what makes coliving special.
What coliving means to me
“For me, coliving is much more than sharing a house. It’s about creating a real sense of community, making meaningful connections and feeling at home somewhere new. It’s a way of travelling and living that allows people to connect with each other and with the local place around them.”
